One of the places we observed while scouting out birding locations in Brazil. This is a huge tract of "Mata-Atlantica"....Atlantic Rainforest that is being threatened by farmers and Eucalyptus tree growers. One thing the world DOESN'T need is more Eucalyptus trees! Most people are aware of how the Amazon is being diminished day by day but few know that all along the Southeastern coast of Brazil lies an eco-system that's almost as rich. The birds and animal life here are one of a kind and endemic to this part of the world. This particular tract was photographed five minutes from Sitio Macuquinho which is one of the places we really liked to see incredible birds like this brassy-breasted tanager!
