We're proud to announce that we will be launching an amazing 12 day/11 night photography expedition that will emphasize hummingbirds and multi-flash photography! For many people, there are two types of birding trips and we cater to both. One is for the observer who is interested in seeing as many birds as possible and in filling up their list of “Lifers”. Of course they bring their camera but they won’t agonize if they don’t capture a pulitzer prize winning shot. The other type is the serious photographer who is more than willing to lug his or her 600mm lens to all corners of the world to get those once in a lifetime images. This trip is designed for them. It’s an extensive and intensive tour that will take you to various parts of the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil to see and photograph the incredible hummingbirds that inhabit this region. Some are endemic and some are endangered and all are beautiful. We will be using a technique called Multi-Flash meaning we will set up portable lighting to capture the hummer and their wing beats in a beautiful and exciting moment. The resulting photos are going to be stunning. If you are proficient in this technique, we will guide you and demonstrate how this process is done. It’s a wonderful opportunity to get that prize winning shot as well as learn a new method of photography. IF you are already proficient in this technique, then you will have a ball capturing one cracking image after another.
Of course there are other birds to be seen! Actually, there is a huge variety of birds in this region ranging from tanagers, toucans, woodpeckers, flycatchers, ant wrens, bell birds etc etc, but the emphasis is on multi-flash photography of hummingbirds. Come join us! It’s a special one of a kind adventure that you’ll never forget!
Below is a description of the trip:
The Atlantic Rainforest, located all along the Southeastern coast of Brazil, just happens to be one of the best places on Earth to see hummingbirds. And lucky for us, it’s one of the most accessible places to see these amazingly colorful hummers, some of which are endemic or endangered. Although this once neglected forest used to be much larger, it is now a high-priority hotspot for preservation by Brazilian and Global organizations. It’s no where near as famous as the Amazon yet it’s still among the richest and most biologically diverse forests in the world. It is home to overall around 830 bird species with 223 of these are endemic. In this tour we will have the opportunity to not only photograph hummingbirds but emphasize multi-flash photography. This will be a strictly photographic adventure given by photographer/guides who are well versed in the technique. Overall, we will visit five locations covering two distinct biomes giving us the opportunity to see a diverse range of species of hummers and much much more!
