Deep in the heart of the Cerrado (Brazilian Savanna) lies Emas National Park. The over 300,00 acres of grasslands, woodlands and gallery forests is known for its rich and diverse wildlife and host the world's largest concentration of termite mounds. The Park provide a surreal setting for large concentrations of Pampas Deer, Giant Anteater, Greater Rhea, Brazilian tapir, Toco toucan, Blue-and-Yellow Macaws outside Amazonia, and Blue-winged, Red-shouldered and Red-bellied Macaws can also be seen. Maned Wolf are frequently seen roaming the grasses in search of tinamou and other preys.
For the visitors that decide to visit the Park between September and October, a special treat may await. In the thousands of termite mounds, the larvae of a beetle species wait for the first couple of rains after the long dry season. Rain triggers the flight of millions of termites, the favored meal of the beetle larvae. With the rain the larvae emerge, and with bioluminescence attract the termites, which see out light. When the termites fly close to the glowing larvae, they grab and devour the unsuspecting insects. Each mound may have a hundred or more larvae, and mounds sit side by side for miles. Those lucky enough to time their visit to the first rain will be treated to an impressive natural phenomenon.
Ema National Park is one of the best places to spot the Maned wolf in a totally wild sighting with no bating practice. Those amazing creatures can be seen usually late evening or early morning hunting small mammals or walking around looking for a plant called lobeira or fruta-do-lobo ("wolf's fruit") in Portuguese. The lobeira is one of maned wolf favorite fruit.

Day 1: Arrival at Campo Grande International Airport in Mato Grosso do Sul State where our tour guide will welcome you and proceed to the hotel located in the Emas National Park. Travel time to the lodge is approximately five hours, if the flight arrives early in the morning we will have the opportunity to do the safari in the afternoon.
Day 2, 3, 4, 5: Early breakfast and departure to Emas National Park. Sighting of the Maned wolf (our main focus) with great chances to see other mammals like the Brazilian tapir (easy to see), the Jaguar, the endangered Giant armadillo and the Pampas cat and birds like the Blue-headed parrot, the Blue and yellow Macaw, the White-tailed Hawk, the Common Potoo, the Toco toucan, the Greater rhea and much more. At night beside the  amazing wildlife we will have the unique opportunity to see the termite mounds glowing, this phenomenon occurs between September and October.
The entire tour will be devoted to visit different areas of the Park and the days will have an early start to maximize the chances to see mainly the Maned wolf. We will have a midday break after lunch at the lodge to avoid the hottest times of the day.
Day 6: After breakfast, the safari may take place in the morning depending on the time of the flight back home or breakfast and return to Campo Grande International Airport and end of our services.

To get to Emas National Park from US, take a flight to Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo and then a flight to Campo Grande International Airport located at the Campo Grande City, the Capital of Mato Grosso do Sul State. Our guide will be at the airport waiting for you.
